French Riviera Casino Bond
(1928)
The bond is as pristine as the gardens, with a Beardsley border far more intricate than those computer screens can fathom, 32 uncut coupons, and delicate red art deco seals of the Casino arrayed like flowers on its green and blue canvas. The bond's prodigious size of over 12" x 15" demands respect in the form of a flattering frame.

SCRIPOPHILY is the collecting of old stocks and bonds. This hobby gained recognition as an area of serious interest during the mid 1970's. Today there are several thousands of collectors worldwide in search of scarce, rare, and popular stocks and bonds. Collectors who come from the numerous business fields mainly enjoy its hobby aspect, although there are those who consider scripophily an investment. Some collectors like the historical significance that certificates have. Others prefer the beauty of older stocks and bonds that were printed in various colors with fancy artwork and ornate engraving. Even autograph collectors are found in this field, on the outlook for signed certificates of famous people. Some people collect by category, such as railroads, mining, automobile, historical documents, and so forth.

Paris to New York Telegraph Company
(1879)
Beautifully engraved Certificate from the Compagnie Francaise du Telegraphe de Paris a New York issued in 1879. The company was responsible for building the Trans-Atlantic Submarine Cable from Paris to New York.
This historic and unique document has an ornately detailed border around it surrounding the company name and the certificates description. This early telegraph item is over 121 years old.
The first cable laid beneath the Atlantic ocean was completed in 1858. The Queen of England and the President of the United States immediately exchanged greetings. Modern civilizations were astounded that there were instantaneous communications between Europe and North America. Unfortunately, the cable failed after only three weeks.
